There have been many events throughout Haiti’s recorded history that helped shaped the island nation starting with the arrival of Columbus in 1492, followed by the French in 1625, and even the earthquake of 2010 that again brought the small island nation to the attention of the world. However, none is more important than what led to the formation of the island nation itself, The Haitian Revolution.
